How would you describe your works?

My works convey human conditions affected from suffering of living life through painting. Using figure of human, animal and object is to tell a stimulating story which is like a stage scene. Portrait of myself is used as one of player in that stage to communicate and tell the feeling and thinking to audiences. My most paintings are presented a picture of myself in many different actions. The picture of my life is expressed which is like a discovery of escape or an attempt to escape from suffering or searching for a balance of living life.

What role has Buddhism played in your works?

Buddhism plays an important role to my works, I use a philosophy from Buddhism in aspect of examining how to be a completed human as well as using a Buddhist way to solve problems of living life. Buddhism is a key content which is used metaphorically to refer to experiencing of my current life.

What is it like to be an artist in Thailand, tell us.

It is like a half-breed who has a traditional culture from oriental belief combining with a non local culture from western belief that inspired through a way of art expression. The result is a cultural combination and I am unable to specify what category of my works is. Especially, the globalization helps artist transmit their artworks in various ways including an alternative of using art medium and method of art so I think it is hard to categorize. So, being artist in Thailand is, for me, a half –breed so it is proper and compatible with a local and international trend.

Do you think Thai in general understand contemporary art?

If contemporary art is art produced at this present point in time, I think most people understand what it is. Currently, art is not something far away or for certain group of people. General people can access and understand its meaning , open their mind to accept artist thought and expression. There are various medias talk about arts, students, artists , art critic those are a key stakeholder for art scene to promote the knowledge of art, create an understanding of art which I personally think they are so important as artworks.

What I worry is unacceptance as contemporary art is different from the traditional art which is reserved for religious purpose and can be seen in temple or palace. Those are so specific. If those traditional belief still be put in Thai mindset and there is no one spread a new belief of contemporary art that is focused more on individual condition and aesthetic. It will be an obstacle for general people to understand more what contemporary art is, what artworks communicate with you or what artist telling.

What can’t you live without when working?

Time and a peace of mind is a key condition for creating my works. To review, think and examine my works requires some times and a peace of mind so that I can create the best piece of work at that point of time.

What are you working on at the moment?

After my first solo show at 100 Tonson Gallery, I am thinking about my new painting under the same concept but presenting in new aspect of thought. Relying on my personal experience, I still believe that good opportunity and be willful in contemporary art will emphasize what I am and be strong on this contemporary art path.

The best thing about being an artist is?

Being artist who has been continuously doing artworks , expressing emotional condition and experience as well as having a time to examine inner self is what the best thing about being an artist. Art is like a mirror reflecting a balancing condition of inner of those who create it , then communicate those emotion and experience to public for an intangible value.

What’s the best way to experience contemporary art in Thailand?

Exhibiting artworks in art space and art activities can encourage more people to participate. Or try to convince people to join art activities more than asking them to view it through their eyes , as well as 3D , lighting and sound is another medium to use .

Who or what inspires your works?

A good word from Buddhism initially inspires me as it helps me to understand more what life is properly. To rely on the Buddhism teach and practice is what I do currently. As an art creator, I adopt some of Buddhism teach with my art expression accordingly.
