Meet Rohan Gunatillake – Buddhify Meditation Mobile App. Innovator : Too often when looking to make change in the world, we tend to ignore our inner worlds and focus only on the outer

Rohan Gunatillake

Buddhify is the world’s first mass market modern meditation mobile app.  It is available for iPhone and Android platforms.

On Design: What organisations or traditional institutions want isn’t necessarily what people want and so focussing more on the needs of real humans rather than trying to fill holes in a balance sheet is what good project design should be all about.

On Leaving London: Moving out of the mega city bubble has been great and means that when I go back to the city I have more of a tourist mind than a commuter mind. The osmotic tension of urgency and never enough when I get off the train at Kings Cross is literally tangible. Now all I need is Glasgow to get a decent Trinidadian take-away joint and I’m all set.

On Meditation: Too often when looking to make change in the world, we tend to ignore our inner worlds and focus only on the outer. Inner and outer are in constant dialogue and meditation – when done well – can help show us how our ways of looking can tangle and trip us up. And by seeing the traps, we’re less likely to fall into them.

On Inspiration: Inspiration comes easy when working on projects like buddhify and Buddhist Geeks. This is a completely unique time for the wisdom and contemplative traditions where they are all meeting each other, meeting advances in neuroscience and psychology and meeting pop digital culture. It is a fun party to be at.

On Wanting To Do Something Different: What is really different if it’s still you who is going to do it?

On The Benefits Of A Quiet Mind: Rocky seas are maybe fun in the short term but you’re more likely to get hurt.
